Too fatty, salty, acidic, not enough K+… how can we survive our daily diet?

Gilles Crambert, head of the PRET team, will guide us through the renal mechanisms that help our bodies cope with the daily challenges imposed by our diet. A fascinating deep dive into ion homeostasis and a great opportunity to uncover the subtle mechanisms that keep our internal balance in check!

Gilles Crambert’s team focuses on the mechanisms by which the kidney regulates ion transport and on associated pathologies, particularly tubulopathies. Their research relies on segmental analyses of mRNA and protein expression, measurements of ion fluxes and transepithelial currents, as well as monitoring of intracellular calcium and pH changes in isolated microdissected tubules — a highly specialized approach developed and refined within the PRET laboratory. Metabolic and physiological parameters are also studied in vivo to gain a broader understanding of renal function.
